Welcome in Paris!
France welcomes each year about 300 000 foreign students mainly through partnerships between universities or school exchange programs. A recent poll published in November 2006 states that among those students 80% of them are ?satisfied? with their studies in France.
It's your turn now to come and join them!
The French language
For those of you that are non-French speakers, it is worth noting that you are expected to know the basics of the French language since most courses, if not all, are taught in French. Please find below a guideline regarding French lessons available in your home countries:

Education: The Undergraduate and Graduate Studies (Diploma)
The new European undergraduate and graduate system is comprised of 3 tiers:
Licence: 3 years
Master: 2 years
P.H.D.: 3 years.
See thereafter the explanatory page to the LMD system.
Two different educational systems coexist in France: The University and The ?Grandes Ecoles? (?Schools?).
Universities are for most of them public institutions that accordingly have low tuition fees accounting for less than ?500 per year. They provide for a wide range of curriculum focusing on Humanities (including courses in Psychology, History, Geography, Literature, Languages?), Sciences (including Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Medical courses), Law, Business or else Political Science.
Please find the websites of all Universities located in Paris.
These Schools are generally private institutions and therefore bear yearly tuition fees ranging from ?500 to ?7,000. They offer specialized degrees in Business and Management (?the Business Schools?), Sciences and Engineering (?the Engineering Schools?), and Communication and Journalism.
Please find their websites for those located in Paris.
Students from those Schools either receive a Licence degree (3 years) or a Master degree (5 years).
The reputation of Schools varies from one to another according to their national ranking; some are excellent while some others are decent but not as highly regarded. On the contrary, Universities are not ranked.
